Colorado Celebrates “Water Research Foundation Day”
Colorado Governor John W. Hickenlooper proclaimed December 5, 2016 “Water Research Foundation Day,” in honor of The Water Research Foundation, a leading sponsor of innovative research supporting the water community. Originally based in New York, WRF has been a member of the Colorado business community since 1974.
First envisioned in 1955, the Water Research Foundation was officially incorporated on December 5, 1966. In 1968, the first research project was funded by the Federal Water Pollution Control Administration (FWPCA). In 1986, the subscription program for water utilities began, an innovation that has allowed WRF to become the industry leader in water research.
Over the past 50 years, the Water Research Foundation has provided its subscribers with the highest level of research and tools to solve the most complex challenges of the water community. Today, the Water Research Foundation subscribers include over 1,000 water and wastewater utilities located throughout the world, as well as consulting firms and manufacturing companies. Additionally, 31 water and wastewater utility subscribers are based in Colorado.
