Niagara Falls Officials Struggle to Fix Water Main Break
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) — City officials in Niagara Falls say workers are still trying to fix a water main that ruptured last week.
The Niagara Falls Water Board says the concrete line broke Friday night. The damaged line has affected water pressure in the city. Officials closed Niagara Falls High School on Monday because the building’s restrooms weren’t operating correctly.
The Water Board hopes to fix the break by Wednesday.
Board maintenance superintendent Bob Drury says workers are having trouble fixing three isolating valves in addition to the concrete line.
Board chairman Don O’Callaghan says the city will hire an outside contractor to help with repairs. O’Callaghan says the board is working on a new emergency management plan to avoid similar problems in the future.
