Order Upheld Against Houston Company Accused of Illegal Sewer Discharges
A Houston judge has approved a temporary restraining order against Wright Containers L.L.C. for allegedly disposing of hazardous waste into the city’s storm sewer systems.
Under the terms of the order, the company is barred from accepting any hazardous waste at its southeast Houston location and disposing of waste into the city’s storm sewer system connected to Sims Bayou.
According to the Houston City Council, in December 2017, the Houston Police Department (HPD) received complaints that Wright Containers was discharging hazardous waste into the municipal separate storm sewer systems. During its investigation, HPD found hazardous waste and evidence of unknown discharges of a sludge-like, gelatinous material into the storm sewer system and a sewer drain.
A hearing for a temporary injunction has been set for Jan. 19, 2018.
