COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s governor has chosen a former top prosecutor to lead the board of state-owned utility Santee Cooper.

Gov. Henry McMaster announced Wednesday he has picked former state Attorney General Charlie Condon to fulfill the rest of former chairman Leighton Lord’s term, which expires in May.
McMaster says he will appoint Condon to a full, seven-year term then.
Lord resigned in December under pressure from McMaster. The governor had said he wanted Lord removed because he failed to turn over all documents Santee Cooper had about the two nuclear reactors being built at the V.C. Summer plant.
Santee Cooper partnered with private company SCANA Corp. and they both spent around $9 billion on the failed project.
