Pennsylvania Regulators to Hold Water Contamination Hearing

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced it will hold a public hearing on March 26, 2018, to solicit comments concerning the investigation into water contamination in private water wells in Lycoming County.
According to the DEP, six homes were found to have water supply wells impacted by trichloroethylene (TCE) in concentrations of one part per billion (ppb) or greater. In response, those impacted have been supplied with bottled water, and activated carbon-based treatment systems will be installed.
The hearing will be held at the Gamble Township Community Hall in Trout Run, Pennsylvania.
Oral comments will be accepted at the hearing, and all written comments must be submitted no later than May 31, 2018. Written comments may be emailed to Cheryl Sinclair, Environmental Group Manager, at csinclair@pa.gov, or mailed to the DEP North Central Regional Office in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
