Senator Joe Manchin backs Pickaway waterline extension in West Virginia's Monroe County
(UI) — U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) has announced new funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to extend the Pickaway waterline in Monroe County, improving access to clean drinking water for residents of Union.
The funding comes as part of a series of Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) projects secured by Manchin through the Fiscal Year 2023 funding bill.
“I’m pleased the EPA is investing $400,000 to expand access to reliable drinking water for the residents of Union,” said Senator Manchin. “To ensure every West Virginian has access to clean, safe water, we must continue to upgrade and improve our water infrastructure. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for federal investments to ensure our communities across the Mountain State have the resources they need to thrive.”
The funding will help expand water access to more residents in the region, supporting local communities and boosting economic growth.
The CDS initiative allows members of Congress to request federal funding for local projects that directly support their communities. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Manchin continues to advocate for investments that benefit the state while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
