Greenville, S.C., residents eligible for $3,000 power line burial support from Duke Energy
(UI) — In a collaborative effort, Duke Energy and Greenville, S.C., have introduced the POWER ON initiative, aiming to assist homeowners in burying their power lines and ensuring a reliable energy supply, Fox Carolina reported.
Under this program, eligible residents can receive financial aid of up to $3,000, making the process of undergrounding more accessible in Greenville.
To participate, interested homeowners need to complete the POWER ON Program Application. Upon approval, a representative from Duke Energy will conduct a meeting to assess the project's scope, as outlined on the City's website.
Duke Energy emphasizes that the transition from overhead to underground power lines enhances their resilience against potential outages and adverse weather conditions. Additionally, this initiative aims to reduce the downtime in restoring power during disruptions. The estimated cost for burying a line and updating the meter base for a single-family home is approximately $2,900.
