Pennsylvania township receives $6 million to rehabilitate 25,000 feet of sewer main
(UI) — Senator Judy Ward (R-30) announced that Frankstown Township in Blair County will receive over $5.8 million in state funding for a significant sewer main project.
“State funding helps local governments tackle projects they might not afford otherwise,” Ward said. “Infrastructure projects like this sewer line are crucial for the health and vitality of local communities. This PENNVEST loan will enable Frankstown Township to continue providing essential services for residents.”
The project involves rehabilitating or replacing nearly 25,000 feet of sewer main with new sanitary sewer pipes and manholes. It is scheduled to begin on October 1 and be completed by May 30, 2025.
The project, estimated to cost $5.85 million, will be funded through a low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). The loan will have an interest rate of 1.743% for the first five years, increasing to 2.179% in the sixth year until fully paid.
PENNVEST is an independent state agency providing financial assistance for sewer, stormwater, and drinking water projects across Pennsylvania.
