Repairs begin on struck ANR pipeline, but more work ahead for Michigan Gas Utilities
(UI) — TC Energy is responding to a third-party line strike that damaged a section of its ANR Pipeline System near Fennville, Michigan, on April 9, causing a gas outage in the area.
The company reported that the incident occurred at 2:10 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Emergency procedures were activated, and the affected pipeline section was isolated and shut down.
“Our team is working to put in place a repair crew to replace the section of the ANR pipeline that was struck earlier today by a third party,” TC Energy said in an April 9 statement. “We worked with first responders to reroute traffic as required and we thank them for their assistance. Emergency responders are no longer onsite.”
The outage is expected to last several days while repairs are completed. TC Energy is coordinating with Michigan Gas Utilities, local emergency responders, and regulators to manage community impacts.
As of Thursday morning, crews were onsite and preparing to work through the night to restore service.
“We are focused on restoring pipeline service to the Fennville, MI area as soon as possible,” the company said. “Our team is onsite to start the repair process and will be working through the night to return service to Michigan Gas Utilities as soon as possible.”
