Nev. community approves $16 million contract for sewer extension project
According to The Record-Courier, Pine View Estates in Carson Valley, Nevada, has approved a $15.99 million bid from contractor Aspen Developers to extend sewer to the community.

The homeowners’ association board met at the end of January to make a final decision on awarding the bid.
Approximately two-thirds of the sewer line’s cost will be covered by two federal sources, including a $7.7 million grant, and a $2.65 million loan to be paid by the homeowners’ association.
Engineering Project Manager Keith Shafer told The Record-Courier that other funding comes from the homeowners and grants from the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection’s revolving fund.
The three-mile long, 12-inch line will connect the 240-home subdivision located at Ray May Way in the Pine Nuts with the Minden-Gardnerville Sanitation District at Pinenut Road south of Gardnerville.
The community has been looking for a solution to its sewer issues since the wastewater treatment plan failed in 2013.
The neighborhood was built on 62 acres of Washoe Tribal allotment land in 1997. Residents originally purchased the homes under a 99-year lease.
A lawsuit filed in February 2015 uncovered that the leases were a violation of Bureau of Indian Affairs protocols. According to an attorney, the maximum lease at the time the lots were sold was 25 years, with a 25-year extension.
