Construction begins on NESE pipeline across Northeast urban corridor
(UI) - Williams has begun construction on its Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) pipeline project, marking a major infrastructure upgrade across New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The project expands the existing Transco pipeline system and is designed to improve natural gas delivery reliability across the Northeast. Construction will take place across densely populated urban and suburban corridors, requiring coordination with local communities, regulators and multiple stakeholders.
With permits secured, the project is expected to be placed into service in 2027. Work will include installation of new pipeline segments and upgrades to existing infrastructure to support long-term system performance.
In addition to improving energy reliability, the project is expected to generate regional economic activity and support construction employment over the multi-year buildout.
