Southwest Gas begins natural gas pipeline replacement in Arizona
(UI) — Southwest Gas has started a natural gas pipeline replacement project in Yuma, Ariz., with construction expected to continue through December as the utility upgrades portions of its gas distribution system.
According to Pipeline & Gas Journal, the project includes replacement of an existing natural gas pipeline along 8th Street and Avenue B between Clifford Way and 5th Street. Construction will require temporary traffic restrictions and periodic road closures while maintaining access to nearby homes and businesses.
Separately, Southwest Gas and contractor Accurate Corrosion Control are installing a cathodic protection well along 9th Street to help protect underground pipelines from corrosion and extend the service life of the distribution system, P&GJ reported. That work is expected to be completed in early August.
