Campaign Launched to Show Why More Pipelines are Needed to Lower U.S. Energy Prices
Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA), a national consumer advocacy organization that represents consumers, manufacturers, agriculture, energy, renewables and other industries, has launched a national campaign, “Pipelines for America,” focused on educating consumers about the increasing importance of U.S. energy infrastructure — and how more is needed to keep consumer energy prices stable and better protect the environment.
According to the organization, pipeline expansion in America’s Mid-Continent region is strategically important to the areas numerous energy-intensive industries, refineries, and storage complexes, especially throughout Texas and in Cushing, Oklahoma – the terminus and storage hub of the U.S. liquid pipeline system.
“U.S. energy production has grown dramatically over the past decade and can claim much of the credit for today’s low energy prices, which have provided great relief to consumers during the nation’s economic recovery and pipelines are a critical piece of that puzzle,” said Tommy Foltz, Director of Mid-Continent operations for CEA. “Additionally, if pipelines are blocked and production is halted, so is critical state and local revenue that provides funds for schools and other essential services in states like Oklahoma, Kansas, and others that rely heavily on energy production.”
CEA’s regional campaign is part of a nationwide effort to engage consumers on how to better support affordable energy through greater pipeline development. This will be done via advertising, events, and grassroots activities across several states. The organization also has unveiled a new website www.pipeline.consumerenergyalliance.org to promote public awareness of energy infrastructure and the importance of pipeline development to regions throughout the United States.
