Water Gushes Through South LA After Pipe Bursts
7/25/2017
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Several inches of water gushed through streets after a pipe burst in South Los Angeles.
Traffic was diverted and pavement buckled but no major damage was reported from the main break around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
The flow continued for several hours until Department of Water and Power crews managed to shut off the valves to the main.
Officials say they hope service will be restored by about 5 p.m. It wasn’t immediately known how many customers are without water.
KCAL-TV reports the broken pipe was installed in the 1920s.
