Water System Failure Forces Closure of Indiana Welcome Center

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Officials say a welcome center along Interstate 70 in western Indiana has been closed since April because its well and water infrastructure failed.
The Tribune-Star reports (http://bit.ly/2tamyAR ) the Clear Creek Welcome Center, which is located in Vigo County near the Illinois-Indiana state line, will get a new water system.
The rest stop was built in 1992 along the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
Debbie Calder, spokeswoman for the Indiana Department of Transportation’s Crawfordsville district, says in an email that officials hope to have the rest stop back open within the next few months. A cost estimate for the work hasn’t yet been received.
