Lynchburg, Va., to begin sewer pipe root control maintenance, aiming to prevent overflows

(UI) — Lynchburg Water Resources (LWR) and contractor Duke’s will begin chemically treating approximately 9,000 feet of sanitary sewer pipes across the city on Sept. 3 to manage root intrusion.
The two-week project aims to maintain the sewer system and prevent costly backups and overflows.
Work will occur near properties at various locations, including 12th Street, Bonair Circle, Kenmore Drive, Oakwood Place, and Riverside Drive. Crews will access the sewer system through manholes and will not disturb personal property.
Temporary traffic controls will be set up periodically, and minor delays are expected. Motorists are advised to use caution in work zones. Emergency vehicles will maintain access throughout the project.
