California American Water replaces 3,000 feet of 100-year-old pipes in Carmel, boosting service and safety
(UI) — California American Water has completed its water main replacement project on Dolores Street in Carmel, upgrading nearly 3,000 feet of 100-year-old pipes to enhance service reliability and safety.
The project aims to reduce future water main breaks and minimize service disruptions for area residents and businesses.
In addition to the pipe replacement, three new fire hydrants were installed, and two existing hydrants were upgraded. These enhancements are expected to improve water flow for firefighting, bolstering public safety for Carmel’s residents and first responders.
David Pezzini, Senior Project Engineer at California American Water, noted that this project is part of the company's broader efforts to strengthen water infrastructure.
“The Dolores Street main replacement project is yet another example of the ongoing, proactive, capital infrastructure improvements we regularly perform to help ensure our customers can get clean, reliable water service with minimal interruptions,” he said.
Pezzini added that the new hydrants and improved water flow would provide additional security for Carmel’s residents and visitors.
The project also included a slurry seal on Dolores Street, restoring the road’s surface following the underground work.
