Dresser Utility Solutions acquires pipe-pulling tech firm Kobus
(UI) — Dresser Utility Solutions has acquired Kobus, a U.S.- and U.K.-based provider of gas and water pipe pulling technology, in a move aimed at expanding Dresser’s infrastructure repair capabilities for utility customers.
Kobus, previously a portfolio company of Agile Growth Equity, will maintain operations in Houston and Tamworth. Its pipe replacement system, known as the Kobus Pipe Puller, is designed to accelerate and improve the safety of underground pipe replacements—particularly relevant amid growing federal mandates to remove aging and lead service lines across the U.S.
“This acquisition aligns with our corporate strategy to be a complete supplier of essential technology to utilities worldwide,” said David Evans, CEO of Dresser Utility Solutions. “Together with Kobus, we are better positioned to address the challenges of aging utility infrastructure, including recent legislation aimed at replacing lead service lines.”
Kobus President Tom Atienza added, “By joining forces with Dresser Utility Solutions, we will be able to leverage their extensive network and resources to enhance our ability to deliver critical infrastructure modernization solutions.”
Dresser Utility Solutions is a portfolio company of First Reserve and serves water, gas, and industrial utility sectors.
