Emergency pipeline repair completed in Santa Maria, Calif.; water flows resume
Emergency repairs to the State Water pipeline that supplies Santa Maria, California, have been completed, allowing for the resumption of normal water usage, according to the Santa Maria Times.
Although water deliveries have been restored and outdoor water use can now continue, residents are encouraged to practice mindful and efficient water use as part of ongoing sustainability initiatives, the Santa Maria Times reported.
Deliveries from the State Water Project resumed on Sunday after a prompt response from the Central Coast Water Authority and the California Department of Water Resources.
Throughout the temporary shutdown, the City relied entirely on groundwater supplies to meet essential water needs. Thanks to the cooperation of Santa Maria residents and businesses, water service remained uninterrupted during this period.
The temporary water use restrictions have now been lifted, and residents are advised to continue with ongoing water conservation measures.
