Miami Beach may study underground transit tunnels to ease congestion
(UI) — Mayor Steven Meiner has asked the City Commission to evaluate whether building underground transit tunnels could help reduce traffic congestion in the city, according to Axios Miami.
At an upcoming commission meeting, leaders will consider commissioning feasibility studies on tunnel engineering, environmental impact, funding options, and integration with existing transit systems.
As reported by Axios, this proposal follows the city’s earlier rejection of a Metromover extension and introduces a broader exploration of subterranean transit solutions.
