DeLa Express pipeline suspended as developer pursues intrastate route
(UI) — MossLake Partners has suspended development of the proposed DeLa Express interstate natural gas pipeline, KPLC News reported, notifying the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that the project will instead be reconfigured as an intrastate pipeline focused on Texas natural gas markets.
Originally announced in 2024, the proposed 690-mile pipeline would have transported natural gas from West Texas to Moss Bluff, La. The project generated opposition from landowners and residents along the proposed Louisiana route during FERC's pre-filing review process.
In a filing with FERC, DeLa Express LLC President J.A. Blackman said the company reassessed the project after receiving market feedback from Permian basin producers and Gulf Coast natural gas customers. According to KPLC, the company concluded the project is better suited to transport Permian residue gas to delivery points in and around southeast Texas, with service targeted for 2030.
The suspension ends the current federal pre-filing process while MossLake advances the revised intrastate pipeline concept. Neither the company nor FERC had provided additional details on the revised project or permitting timeline as of publication.
