Stantec-Rados to design 11-mile recycled water pipeline in Southern California
(UI) — Stantec and construction partner Rados have been selected by the Inland Empire Utilities Agency to design a new pump station and 11-mile recycled water pipeline in western San Bernardino County aimed at strengthening long-term water supply reliability.
The project will convey recycled water from the City of Rialto’s wastewater treatment plant to IEUA’s proposed advanced water purification facility in Rancho Cucamonga. The pipeline and pump station are designed to deliver up to 10 million gallons per day of recycled water as part of IEUA’s Chino Basin Program.
Stantec will serve as design lead under a progressive design-build delivery model, working alongside Rados on engineering and constructability planning. The infrastructure is intended to support expanded water reuse as regional agencies seek to improve resilience amid growing demand and constrained supplies.

The pipeline alignment will pass through multiple communities, including Rialto, Fontana, Bloomington and Rancho Cucamonga, requiring coordination with local agencies and utility operators. In addition to pipeline installation, the scope includes design-build delivery of a new pump station and connections to existing treatment and purification facilities.
Stantec and Rados have previously partnered on several California water and wastewater projects, including recycled water and interceptor pipeline work.

Final commissioning and completion of the project are expected by 2031.
