Olenox begins recommissioning 162-mile pipeline for wet gas service
(UI) - Olenox Industries Inc. has begun the process of recommissioning a 162-mile pipeline system, with plans to return the line to service as a wet gas pipeline capable of transporting both natural gas liquids (NGLs) and dry natural gas.
The company said the first phase of the project involves completing a new pipeline survey, which is currently underway and expected to conclude by mid-February. Once the survey is finished, Olenox plans to apply for license reinstatement and initiate the steps required to bring the pipeline back online.
When recommissioned, the pipeline will handle wet gas streams, allowing for the recovery of NGLs—products commonly used in midstream blending and processing operations—while dry gas volumes will be marketed through existing and future sales agreements.
In addition to gas sales, Olenox said it intends to use surplus dry gas from the pipeline as feedstock for containerized generator sets to support base-load and peak-load power generation, supplying electricity to the grid.
The project reflects a broader trend across the midstream sector toward reactivating and repurposing existing pipeline infrastructure to meet evolving energy and market demands, rather than developing entirely new systems. Olenox has not disclosed a timeline for full recommissioning beyond the completion of survey and regulatory approval steps.
