Cardinal expands wet utility construction footprint with Piedmont acquisition
(UI) - Cardinal Infrastructure Group has acquired Piedmont Pipe Construction, a Carolinas-based contractor specializing in wet utility infrastructure, expanding its presence in the fast-growing Charlotte market.
Founded in 1999 and headquartered near Charlotte, Piedmont provides water, sewer and other underground utility construction services across North and South Carolina. Following the acquisition, the company will operate under Cardinal's civil contracting division.
Cardinal said the transaction strengthens its wet utility capabilities and expands its workforce in a region experiencing continued population growth and infrastructure development. The acquisition also supports the company's strategy of growing its self-performed construction operations in existing markets.
The companies did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.
