Maine Sewer and Sanitation Districts Getting USDA Grants

VASSALBORO, Maine (AP) – The federal government is providing more than $4 million to assist two Maine sewer and sanitation districts in making improvements.
The Vassalboro Sanitary District will receive more than $3.8 million and the Boothbay Harbor Sewer District will receive $600,000. U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King say the money is critical for ensuring safe water infrastructure in the two communities.
The money is from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Boothbay’s district will use it to make upgrades to sewer distribution systems. Vassalboro’s district plans to make an interconnection with the town of Winslow to facilitate treatment at the Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District’s regional wastewater treatment facility.
