DeKalb County Approves Sewer Contracts

The DeKalb Board of Commissioners has approved a $7.2 million contract to Atlanta-based Compliance Envirosystems to remove trees and grease from sewer trunk lines.
Government officials hope the contract will allow the county to add sewer capacity without having to invest in new infrastructure.
“This presents an opportunity for upsizing these lines and reducing costs,” DeKalb County CEO Mike Thurmond said.
In other news, the commission also approved a $28.2 million contract for Atlanta-based Brown and Caldwell to rebuild a gravity sewer system. The project is designed to reduce sewer spills at 19 locations in Decatur and Avondale Estates.
