Mandan and MDU partner to bury power lines along North Dakota highway
N.D. (UI) — Mandan officials are collaborating with Montana Dakota Utilities (MDU) to transform the appearance of one of the city's busiest roads over the next two years, KX News reported.
The initiative entails burying power lines along Memorial Highway, with discussions focused on determining the cost-sharing arrangement between the city and the utility.
City Engineer Justin Froseth anticipates the project's execution next year, coinciding with the city's plans for repaving the roadway and implementing enhanced water drainage systems, according to KX News.
This comprehensive endeavor will include the installation of an urban roadway featuring curb and gutter, along with an underground storm sewer. Froseth emphasizes that this initiative's pragmatic aspects will also yield aesthetic enhancements to the corridor.
The estimated cost of burying the power lines is approximately $3.4 million, offering a significant step toward modernizing the area's infrastructure and appearance.
