California water officials to replace 500 feet of sewer pipe in San Juan Capistrano
(UI) — From June 5 to 18, the Santa Margarita Water District (SMWD) will repair 500 feet of sewer pipes on Los Rios Street as part of San Juan Capistrano's sewer upgrade plans.
“The work will be done Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,” a news release from SMWD said. “Local customers can expect traffic delays. Los Rios Street will be closed to through traffic from Del Obispo to just before River Street.”
While workers reconnect the new pipelines, some customers' sewer service will also be interrupted for four hours. Customers will be notified 48 hours in advance of these interruptions.
Following an annexation deal with the city, SMWD assumed the role of San Juan's official water utility supplier in November 2021. The water district intends to modernize the town's deteriorating water infrastructure.
