Canada invests $10 million to upgrade water, sewer infrastructure in Haines Junction, Yukon
(UI) — The Village of Haines Junction in Yukon is set to upgrade over one kilometer (1,000 meters) of water and sanitary sewer pipes, thanks to a $10 million joint investment from the federal and territorial governments.
The project aims to replace aging infrastructure to support the municipality and its future housing developments.
The federal government is contributing $7.5 million through the Green Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, while the Government of Yukon is providing $2.5 million.
Mayor Bruce Tomlin called the Phase 4 project a significant milestone, noting that it will bring nearly all of the village’s water and sewer infrastructure up to current standards.
"This $10 million investment will improve our essential services, supporting both current residents and future growth. We are grateful for the continued support from our federal and territorial partners," Tomlin added.
