Delta Utilities acquires Entergy gas systems in New Orleans, Baton Rouge
(UI) — Delta Utilities, a portfolio company of Bernhard Capital Partners, has finalized the purchase of Entergy’s regulated natural-gas distribution networks in New Orleans and East Baton Rouge Parish. The deal adds more than 200,000 residential and commercial customers and roughly 200 Entergy employees to Delta’s roster.
“We’re incredibly proud to build upon Entergy’s legacy in our state through this milestone transaction,” said Jeff Jenkins, founder and partner at Bernhard Capital. “We have successfully led seamless business transition experiences and invested in immediate modernizations for these utilities, equipping them to better serve the dynamic needs of their customers.”
The acquisition follows Delta’s April purchase of CenterPoint Energy’s gas systems in Louisiana and Mississippi. With both transactions complete, Delta Utilities now serves about 600,000 customers across the Gulf Coast, supported by more than 800 employees, and ranks among the nation’s 40 largest gas distributors by customer count.
Jenkins added, “We believe natural gas is essential to building resilient communities, and Delta Utilities will be a catalyst for growth—delivering safe, reliable energy to customers across the Gulf Coast.”
The deal received unanimous approvals from four regulatory bodies, according to the company. Delta said it plans to continue modernizing the newly acquired systems to improve reliability and service.
