Excavator collides with I-95 overpass in Henrico, Va., causing multi-vehicle crash
(UI) — Authorities are investigating an incident on Interstate 95 in Henrico County after an excavator struck a southbound overpass near E. Parham Road on March 11, according to WRIC 8News.
Virginia State Police said the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. when the excavator, being transported by a truck, collided with the overpass. The impact caused debris to fall onto the highway, leading to a secondary crash involving five other vehicles.
Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) arrived on-site to assess the structural damage to the overpass and determine if repairs are necessary.
According to WRIC 8News, no serious injuries have been reported. Authorities continue to investigate the crash while ensuring road safety for drivers in the area.
