Intrepid Fiber breaks ground on fiber optic network in Superior, Colo.
(UI) — Intrepid Fiber Networks has begun construction on a fiber broadband network in Superior, Colorado, marking a major step toward expanding high-speed internet access in the region.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held to commemorate the project, which will bring symmetrical, multi-gigabit internet speeds to residents and businesses. The network is expected to be completed by early 2027, with services becoming available in the third quarter of 2025. Superior joins more than a dozen Colorado communities benefiting from Intrepid’s open-access network.
The event was attended by Superior Mayor Mark Lacis, Council Members Stephanie Miller and Neal Shah, and members of Intrepid’s leadership team.
“Unlike traditional internet models where one provider owns both the infrastructure and the service, this approach puts power back in the hands of consumers,” said Mayor Lacis. “With this network, we are future-proofing Superior.”
Jack Waters, CEO of Intrepid Fiber Networks, emphasized the company’s commitment to broadband expansion.
“At Intrepid Fiber Networks, we believe that fast, reliable internet isn’t a luxury — it’s a requirement,” Waters said. “We’re thrilled to bring our fiber-to-the-home network to the residents of Superior, Colorado, and help create a more connected community.”
