Shore Up for Safety Week returns with focus on trench, excavation safety training
(UI) - The North American Excavation Shoring Association (NAXSA) is launching its fourth annual Shore Up for Safety Week, aimed at promoting excavation and trench safety across the underground construction industry.
Scheduled for May 4–8, the initiative brings together contractors, equipment providers, and safety professionals to deliver training and awareness activities at jobsites nationwide. Events include excavation safety training, competent person classes, toolbox talks, and hands-on demonstrations.
NAXSA officials said the campaign is focused on reducing jobsite incidents through improved safety practices and training. The 2026 theme, “Zero Is Our Goal,” emphasizes eliminating fatalities and injuries in trenching and excavation work.
The program builds on hundreds of events held in previous years and is intended to support a stronger safety culture as construction activity ramps up across the industry.
