Lewis County, Wash., weighs future of water, sewer franchise
(UI) — Lewis County officials have scheduled a public hearing on a proposed renewal of Boistfort Valley Water's franchise to install, operate and maintain water and sewer facilities within county rights-of-way in unincorporated areas of the county.
The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution setting the hearing for July 21, 2026, at the county courthouse in Chehalis. County officials said the franchise application has been reviewed and determined suitable for further consideration.
According to county documents, the proposed franchise would apply to roads within the Boistfort Valley Water service area and would allow continued installation, construction, operation and maintenance of water and sewer infrastructure located in county rights-of-way. The franchise under consideration would be valid for five years.
The county is accepting written comments in advance of the hearing. Interested parties may also provide testimony during the public hearing before commissioners consider whether to approve the franchise renewal.
