South Dakota Town Receives $3 Million for Water and Wastewater Upgrades

South Dakota’s Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved a funding package of $3.35 million for the City of Onida to make wastewater system improvements and replace drinking water mains.
The funding package includes a $2.4 million Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan for the wastewater system improvements and a $950,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan for the water main replacement.
The wastewater system improvements include replacing 8,200 feet of clay sewer lines and 2,970 feet of service lines.
The drinking water main replacement project involves replacing 9,100 feet of asbestos cement water lines, 4,700 feet of service lines, hydrants and valves.
The estimated costs are $2.9 million for the wastewater system improvements and $1.996 million for the water main replacement project.
