Cut Fiber Optic Cable Forces North Carolina DMV Offices to Close
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — An internet network outage in central North Carolina has forced approximately 35 driver license and license plate agency offices to suspend services.
The N.C. Department of Transportation said in a news release that Division of Motor Vehicles officials were told by Time Warner Business Services that crews are working to repair major fiber optic cable that was cut on Thursday.
NCDOT said Time Warner/Spectrum has given no estimate when service to the affected DMV offices will be re-established.
The outage affects offices from the Charlotte metro area to the Triad. DMV customers can check ahead to see if their office is affected, or they can check the DMV website.
The outage has also impacted several NCDOT local offices in the Division of Highways.
