OFS Expands the AccuRibbon® DC Fiber Optic Cable Family
OFS announced it has expanded the AccuRibbon® DC Fiber Optic Cable product family to include fiber counts up to 864. These gel-free ribbon cables will be available in dielectric and metallic/armored versions. Currently, AccuRibbon DC cables are only offered in fiber counts up to 432.
OFS’ AccuRibbon DC fiber optic cables use super-absorbent polymer tapes to impede water migration in the cable core and are designed to are designed to significantly reduce both cable preparation times and cable weights, which help lower deployment costs and reduce splicing expenses and speed installation/restoration times.
In addition to meeting Telcordia GR-20 Issue 4 requirements, the AccuRibbon DC cables have successfully met OFS’ aggressive coiling simulations where the cables are twisted and coiled under real-world installation conditions.
The expanded-fiber-count AccuRibbon DC fiber optic cables are scheduled for commercial availability during the fourth quarter of 2017.
