Bellaire, Texas, passes $70 million infrastructure bonds for water, drainage upgrades
Voters in Bellaire, Texas, gave their approval to two major infrastructure bond measures in the November 2024 election, signaling strong support for the city’s planned improvements to water, wastewater, and stormwater system, according to Wastewater Digest.
Proposition A, a $40 million bond, aims to fund various drainage improvements, including design, construction, and repairs. Proposition B, with a $30 million allocation, focuses on enhancing water and wastewater facilities, covering similar needs for installation, renovation, and acquisition of necessary infrastructure.
The Bellaire City Council approved the inclusion of these bonds on the ballot in August 2024. Early voting data showed favorable results, with 5,541 votes in support and 2,598 against Proposition A, and 5,480 for Proposition B, with 2,590 opposed, according to Wastewater Digest.
The final results, released by the Harris County Clerk’s office the day after the election, confirmed widespread approval, with over 6,300 votes backing both propositions and fewer than 3,100 opposing them.
