$86 million Miami Beach project to rebuild drainage, sewer north of 14th Street
(UI) — Miami Beach is moving forward with an $86 million design-build project to replace drainage, water and sewer infrastructure in the West Avenue neighborhood, according to a project posting by Ric-Man Construction Florida, Inc.
The West of 14th Street, Phase II North project covers the area from 14th Street to 17th Street, extending along Bay Road and West Avenue to Alton Road. Work includes replacement of underground utilities, roadway elevation improvements and new drainage infrastructure.
Project documents show the scope includes construction of a 120,000-gallons-per-minute drainage pump station, new large-diameter drainage pipelines, and emergency generators for existing pump stations to maintain operations during power outages.
The project also includes replacement of water and sanitary sewer lines, along with surface improvements tied to the underground work. Street-end upgrades and expanded green space are included as part of the neighborhood improvement effort.
Phase II North is being delivered under a collaborative design-build model to coordinate drainage, pump station and utility construction within a single contract.
