AECOM named preferred bidder for Scottish Water’s multi-billion-dollar Enterprise Alliance
AECOM has been selected as a preferred bidder for Scottish Water’s Enterprise Alliance, a multi-billion-dollar, long-term investment program aimed at transforming water and wastewater infrastructure across Scotland.
Under the agreement, AECOM will serve as one of two Primary Designers, responsible for delivering design services across a major capital program covering water supply, wastewater treatment and network upgrades. The Enterprise Alliance is the largest and highest-value delivery model ever implemented by Scottish Water and is structured to support collaborative, multi-partner project execution.
The program is scheduled to run from 2027 through 2033, with early works and contracted activities beginning in 2026. The alliance also includes an option to extend delivery for up to an additional six years, providing long-term continuity for infrastructure planning and investment.
Scottish Water has positioned the Enterprise Alliance as a new delivery framework intended to improve efficiency, manage risk and accelerate delivery across complex capital projects. The model emphasizes early contractor involvement, shared accountability and integrated design and construction planning.
The selection strengthens AECOM’s role in the UK water sector and places the firm at the center of Scotland’s next generation of water and wastewater infrastructure investment, supporting system resilience, environmental performance and long-term service reliability.
