Bandwidth IG expands fiber network by 170 miles in Greater Atlanta
(UI) — Bandwidth IG (BIG), a growing provider of purpose-built fiber infrastructure, has launched a 170-mile expansion to its fiber network in the Greater Atlanta area. This move will help meet the growing demand for digital infrastructure in one of North America's largest data center markets.
The expansion will double BIG's fiber footprint, increasing its total coverage in Georgia to over 330 miles. As digital infrastructure investments spread outside Atlanta's downtown business district to include innovation hubs and data center campuses, BIG's new network will provide critical AI-ready fiber in counties like Rockdale, Newton, Henry, Dekalb, and Butts. The expansion also strengthens the existing network in Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, and Fulton counties, enhancing middle-mile connectivity in emerging areas.

BIG will continue to be an agile dark fiber provider that empowers our customers to deliver new technologies in Georgia along with our additional markets," said Bruce Garrison, CEO of BIG.
As Atlanta's tech ecosystem thrives, businesses and communities will benefit from improved dark fiber infrastructure, which is a key driver of economic growth. BIG’s expansion is already underway, with the first segment expected to be completed by Q3 2025.
Since launching in 2019, BIG has provided Greater Atlanta with new, 100% underground fiber infrastructure. Upon completion of the current expansion, BIG's network will support over 30 data center campuses across 10 counties.
