TDS Telecom to acquire New Hampshire fiber provider Granite State
MADISON, Wis. (UI) — TDS Telecom has reached an agreement to acquire Granite State Communications, a move that will expand its fiber and voice operations in New Hampshire.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 and will add more than 11,000 fiber service addresses to TDS Telecom’s network.
Company officials said the acquisition strengthens TDS Telecom’s presence in the state, where it has operated for decades, and builds on existing infrastructure in nearby service areas.
Drew Petersen, senior vice president of corporate affairs at TDS Telecom, said the deal supports the company’s efforts to expand connectivity in the region.
“This acquisition expands our fiber network and strengthens our commitment to serving communities in New Hampshire,” Petersen said.
Granite State Communications, which traces its roots to the late 19th century, has operated as a locally focused provider with ongoing investment in network infrastructure.
Susan Rand King, president of Granite State Communications, said the company selected TDS Telecom as a partner for its next phase.
“We believe TDS Telecom is well-positioned to continue providing reliable service to customers,” King said.
TDS Telecom said the acquisition aligns with broader efforts across the telecom sector to expand fiber infrastructure and improve broadband access in regional markets.
