Ezee Fiber acquires DayNet’s 76-mile fiber network in Dayton, Texas
(UI) — Houston-based fiber internet provider Ezee Fiber has acquired the DayNet fiber optic network in Dayton, Texas, adding 76 miles of installed fiber infrastructure as part of its continued expansion in the Greater Houston region.
The acquired system was originally built by the City of Dayton in 2022 and primarily serves residential customers. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Company officials said the acquisition strengthens Ezee Fiber’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment strategy in Texas, particularly in markets targeted for growth.
"The acquisition enables us to further accelerate our Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network deployment in Greater Houston. Our growth in our headquarters state of Texas was recently enhanced by our acquisition of Woodlands-based Tachus fiber internet during 2025," says Matt Marino, Chief Executive Officer of Ezee Fiber.
Dayton city officials confirmed the ownership transition and expressed support for the move.
"The City of Dayton is pleased to transition ownership of the Daynet Fiber System to Ezee Fiber, a trusted local provider committed to serving and supporting Daynet customers into the future," says Mayor Martin Mudd, city of Dayton.
Ezee Fiber has expanded operations since 2023 and now operates in Texas, New Mexico, Illinois, Oregon and Washington. The company has invested more than $1.25 billion across its network footprint and has indicated plans for further geographic expansion in 2026.
Integration of the DayNet system is underway, with customer transition details expected in the coming months.
