Bloomington, Calif., breaks ground on sewer project serving 170 properties
(UI) — Construction has begun on a sewer expansion project in Bloomington, California, that will extend public sewer service to about 170 properties currently served by septic systems.
The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works recently broke ground on the Bloomington Sewer Expansion Project, which will install about 7,500 linear feet of sewer main along Marygold Avenue, Locust Avenue and Linden Avenue.
Once completed, property owners will have the opportunity to connect to the public sewer system, replacing existing septic systems with municipal wastewater service.
"Expanding access to reliable sewer infrastructure helps protect our environment, supports economic growth and improves the quality of life for local families," said Joe Baca Jr., vice chair of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. "I'm proud to see this long-awaited project moving forward for our community."
County officials said the sewer extension is expected to improve public health, protect groundwater and provide infrastructure to support future development in the area.
The project is funded in part through the Southern California Association of Governments' Regional Early Action Planning (REAP) 2021 Program. Construction is being performed by All Cities Engineering Inc. and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
