SGA names former PHMSA investigator to lead pipeline safety initiative

(UI) - SGA Natural Gas Association has appointed former PHMSA Chief Investigator Tiffany Ziemer as its new director of pipeline safety and regulatory excellence, expanding the organization's efforts to help operators strengthen safety performance, regulatory preparedness and workforce readiness.

Ziemer brings more than a decade of experience with the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), where she held several leadership roles, including chief investigator. During her tenure, she managed enforcement programs across 11 states and participated in pipeline accident investigations and regulatory oversight activities.

According to SGA, the new position will focus on providing operators with training, resources and peer-learning opportunities designed to improve regulatory readiness and operational resilience. The association said growing regulatory expectations, workforce transitions and increasing demands for system reliability are driving the need for additional industry support.

"As operators face increasing expectations around safety, reliability and regulatory performance, access to practical expertise has never been more important," said SGA President and CEO Suzanne Ogle.

SGA said its expanded initiatives will help operators better understand evolving PHMSA requirements, apply lessons learned from inspections and enforcement actions, and strengthen workforce development efforts through training and industry collaboration.

The association plans to deliver the expanded resources through its training programs, conferences and operational readiness initiatives. Ziemer is also scheduled to participate in SGA's OpsCon conference in July, where she will discuss regulatory developments and pipeline safety trends affecting natural gas operators.
