$277 million investment targeted for California water infrastructure projects

(UI) - California American Water plans to invest approximately $277 million in water and wastewater infrastructure improvements across the state in 2026 as utilities continue addressing aging systems, reliability concerns and long-term resiliency needs.

The utility said planned investments will focus on replacing aging water infrastructure, expanding storage capacity, upgrading treatment systems and modernizing operational technology. Projects are planned across multiple California communities and include water main replacement, storage tank construction and treatment plant improvements.

Among the highlighted projects are a major water main replacement program in the Sacramento-area Fruitridge system, groundwater storage expansion in Isleton and treatment plant upgrades in Monterey designed to improve operational efficiency and water quality consistency.

California American Water said the investment program is intended to reduce service disruptions, improve system performance and strengthen long-term infrastructure resilience across its statewide service territory.
