NVIDIA, Corning expand U.S. fiber manufacturing for AI infrastructure

(UI) — Corning Incorporated and NVIDIA announced a long-term partnership aimed at expanding U.S. manufacturing capacity for fiber and optical connectivity infrastructure supporting AI-driven data center growth.

Under the agreement, Corning plans to increase its U.S.-based optical connectivity manufacturing capacity tenfold while boosting domestic fiber production capacity by more than 50%.

The expansion includes construction of three new manufacturing facilities in North Carolina and Texas and is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs.

The companies said the investment is designed to support increasing demand for high-capacity fiber and optical connectivity systems tied to hyperscale AI and cloud computing infrastructure.

Modern AI data centers require large-scale high-speed data transmission between computing systems, increasing demand for fiber connectivity and photonics infrastructure.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the partnership reflects growing infrastructure demand tied to AI expansion.

“AI is driving one of the largest infrastructure buildouts in decades,” Huang said.

Corning Chairman and CEO Wendell P. Weeks said the partnership will significantly expand the company’s U.S. manufacturing footprint.

“This investment will expand domestic manufacturing capacity and support long-term infrastructure growth,” Weeks said.

The companies said the expanded manufacturing capacity will support production of optical connectivity systems used in large-scale AI and hyperscale data center deployments.
