New York Communities Receive More than $6 Million for Water, Sewer Infrastructure
New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gellibrand have announced more than $6 million in federal water and sewer infrastructure funding for the Village of Red Hook in Duchess County and the Town of New Haven in Oswego County.
The federal funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.
The Village of Red Hook will receive $1.2 million in federal grant funds along with a federal low-interest loan of $3.7 million to construct a sewer collection system and expand the wastewater treatment plant.
The town of New Haven will receive $265,000 in federal grant funds along with a federal low-interest loan of $1,001,000 to install 17,750 linear feet of new water distribution mains and hydrants.
“Nothing is more important than ensuring families across New York have access to clean drinking water,” said Senator Schumer. “This federal investment will allow the Village of Red Hook and the Town of New Haven to make essential upgrades to their water systems so they can continue to deliver clean and safe drinking water to their residents for generations to come.”
USDA Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Program provides loans and grants to ensure that the necessary investments are made in water and wastewater infrastructure to deliver safe drinking water and protect the environment in rural areas.
