Utility Settles Lawsuit with Former Manager out of Court
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts municipal power company has settled a lawsuit brought by a former manager who claimed he was owed more than $600,000 in wages and benefits.
The Daily Hampshire Gazette reports that Wayne Doerpholz, former manager of the South Hadley Electric Light Co., declined to comment on the terms of the settlement that according to court documents was reached on Oct. 19.
Town Administrator Michael Sullivan said Monday the town is aware of the settlement but does not know the terms.
Doerpholz said in his complaint that after his contract was not renewed last year, he was owed for thousands of hours of unused vacation and sick time.
The settlement marks the second time this year the company has settled a lawsuit on undisclosed terms.
