W.A. Rasic completes underground utility installation at Calif. airpark
(UI) - W.A. Rasic Construction has completed a multi-phase underground utility infrastructure project supporting the Metro Airpark development at Brown Field in Otay Mesa, California.
The work included installation of storm drain, domestic water, fire water and sewer infrastructure within an active airfield environment, requiring coordination with airport operations throughout construction.
Project scope included more than 10,000 linear feet of storm drain pipeline, along with aircraft-rated box culverts, biofiltration basins and multiple utility laterals serving new aviation facilities. Crews also installed water distribution systems, fire protection infrastructure and more than 7,000 linear feet of sewer pipeline across multiple construction phases.
According to the company, construction sequencing and access planning were critical because work occurred adjacent to operational runways and active airport facilities. The completed infrastructure is designed to support future aviation, commercial and operational development at the Brown Field site.
